Representatives of the Swedish government for the first time settled the repayment of debts with the help of bitcoin. This is the first time when law enforcement bodies officially accepted bitcoin as payment of arrears to the state.

"We are used to dealing with the banking system. This is another type of asset that provides a new approach to work that we have not previously used, "says Johannes Paulson, one of the co-ordinators responsible for conducting executive proceedings."
In connection with the established precedent, the authorities of the country are likely to continue taking bitcoin as a means of paying debts.
Sale of coins at auction
However, the bitcoins that the government received as a debt payment will not remain at the disposal of the authorities. They collected 0.6 BTC worth about SEK 23,000, or $ 2,850 at the time of receipt. The regulator plans to place coins at an auction and sell them to someone whose rate is higher. The material Business Insider clarifies:
"This will open the possibility for the public to make deals in bitcoin, since the digital currency will be sold to someone who offers more in the online auction."
According to the authorities, the auction is necessary, since now there is no state infrastructure that will allow the country to leave the bitcoins at its disposal.
Officials also commented on the fact that many crimes are committed in the bitcoin industry, and they have always had difficulty accessing purses, or figuring out all the criminals involved in transactions. In the case mentioned, they managed to gain access to the crypto currency only because the debtor himself agreed to transfer funds according to the amount of recovery.
