The Country of cryptoanarchists Liberland will issue its own cryptocurrency

For three years now, Liberland, a self-proclaimed state located between Serbia and Croatia, is struggling for its autonomy. In a few months, the country plans to issue its own cryptocurrency, and now accepts contributions to BTC, BCH and ETH. Applications for the citizenship of Liberland sent already half a million people. Nevertheless, the question of the borders of Liberland is still not resolved, since Croatia states that 2/5 square miles of unsettled territory stretching for 7 kilometers along the Danube between Serbia and Croatia belong to it.

The boundaries of the territory were changed in the 90s after the civil war in Yugoslavia. At that time, the land passed from Serbia to Croatia. However, neither Serbia nor Croatia, each for its own reasons, did not want to accept this territory.

Liberland proclaims state status

In 2015, the former economist Vit Jedlicka announced the desire to acquire an unnecessary piece of land. Together with three friends, he came up with the flag of a new state, whose president was elected.

However, in spite of the fact that Croatia did not want to become the owner of the notorious territory, now it does not want to have a libertarian state with armed citizens on its border. The Croatian authorities said that anyone who tries to enter the territory will be arrested and fined. When trying to enter Liberland from Croatia, Jedlicka himself was fined. In total, since the beginning of the disputes in 2015, the Croatian authorities have punished about 100 people.

During this time, Jedlicka managed to register half a million citizens of the new country on the Internet and appointed the Cabinet of Ministers and ambassadors. He said that the Liberland case was transferred to a Croatian court and is now awaiting a decision.

Absence of taxes and control over the circulation of arms

Initially, as an official currency, Liberland planned to use Bitcoin, thus avoiding obligations to pay taxes and control the circulation of weapons.

The money for the development of the country Jedlicka attracts through rich libertarians and with the help of crowdfunding. He already printed passports. All activities are carried out by the state via e-mail and Skype. The country has about 100 legislators from different parts of the world.

The state is going to launch a legal system based on the blockchain system and provide citizens with citizenship through digital contracts. On April 13, Liberland plans to issue its own cryptocurrency called Merit, thus marking its third birthday. The Merit coin will be received by all citizens of the country, automatically becoming owners of a stake in the state capital. The government budget of Liberland is distributed in twelve different cryptocurrencies.

According to Jedlicka, before becoming president of Liberland, for several years he worked to reduce taxation and regulation in the Czech Republic, but subsequently came to the conclusion that creating a new country would be much easier than fixing the existing one.

Jedlicka has told also, that during some time it worked as the analyst of the financial markets and consequently now well understands in the system applied by Liberland.

Jedlicka does not give up

The last three years Jedlicka spent traveling the countries in search of representatives of Liberland. He traveled to 100 different countries, and now citizens of Liberland are residents of different continents, including Central America, South America and Africa.

Liberland attracts the attention of business owners, concerned that their companies may suffer from European laws.

According to Jedlicka, on the Serbian side of the Danube in Liberland there is a local community and infrastructure that will gladly welcome all guests.
