Google Ads blocked advertisements with the word "Ethereum"

Serbian startup accelerator Decenter reported that the Google Ads contextual advertising service blocked all advertisements containing the word "Ethereum".

Such blocking began on January 8, 2019. According to Decenter, only ads with the word "Ethereum" got under the blocking; all other words from the field of cryptocurrencies, including "Bitcoin", "ICO" and "EOS", were not blocked. At the same time, an advertisement with the word "Ethereum" is blocked with the wording "This advertiser has not been approved to place an advertisement in your location."

It is noteworthy that the representative of Google responded to the statements of Decenter on Twitter, but the answer did not shed light on the problem - the answer just repeated the same error that the platform gives, and then sent the representatives of Decenter to read the rules of the advertising platform, to the part that describes the possibilities of advertising cryptocurrency companies.

Note that all the rules relating to such companies are limited only by cryptocurrency exchanges and advertising of such sites is possible only in the United States and Japan. At the same time, the Decenter project is not an exchange, and also does not develop such a platform.

Note that in March last year, Google completely banned the advertisements of cryptocurrency companies on its site. However, already in October, the search giant softened its requirements and allowed to use the services of paid promotion in the United States and Japan.
