Bitcoin capitalization exceeded the capitalization of VISA

The world's largest payment system Visa was constantly opposed to Bitcoin from the very first steps of the Cryptocurrency. First, this, of course, concerned turnover and throughput of the network. By these parameters, Bitcoin is hopelessly losing. However, he was able to strike (albeit formal) on the other side. Since the beginning of December, the Bitcoin rate has been growing rapidly: only for one day on December 6 the price increased by 2 thousand dollars, and for December 7 - by 3 thousand (excluding peaks on individual exchanges, where there was an increase and $ 5,000 during the day)! On some Korean exchanges, the price in terms of the official won rate reached 20 thousand dollars!

Such explosive growth was facilitated by the fact that more and more people want to own Bitcoin. At the maximum values, Bitcoin capitalization approached $ 300 billion, and at the time of publication is about 274 billion dollars. Thus, it exceeded the exchange capitalization of the global payment system VISA, which is 252.74 billion dollars.

Pension Partners' Director of Research Charlie Bilello made the announcement on Twitter today:

Bitcoin may have left Visa market cap in the dust, but when it comes to the number of transactions, Visa comes out on top over 150 million transactions per day compared to Bitcoin's less than 500,000 transactions per day.

Over the past few days, it has been hard to keep track of the changing price of Bitcoin. It seems like every time you turn around, it crashes through another milestone to achieve yet another all-time high. No one can accurately predict where it will be in 24 hours, a week, or even a year, but most industry players agree that the increase in prices isn't stopping just yet.

With the mainstream financial sector paying increased attention to Bitcoin and many investors looking to get in on the action, it looks like the Bitcoin party celebration will continue. Major US financial institutions such as CBOE and CME Group are both going to be rolling out Bitcoin futures trading within the next week or two, and that might send prices climbing even higher over the coming days.
