A group of famous musicians, including Mariah Carey, Marilyn Manson and many others, began to accept Monero anonymous cryptocurrency as payment for their albums. The Project Coral Reef was attended by more than 40 performers, such as Slayer, Weezer, G-Eazy, Sia and Fallout Boy. The authors of the project - businessman Naveen Jane (Naveen Jain) and the leading developer of Monero, Riccardo Spagny (Riccardo "Fluffypony" Spagni). This initiative will allow to buy albums and souvenirs of such artists as Mariah Carey, Mötorhead, Alice Cooper and others with 15% discount.

The project was supported by Manhead Merchandise and Global Merchandise Services - companies that provide merchandising services to a number of music performers. The payment processing service GloBee, whose president and founder is Spagny, is responsible for working with the Cryptocurrency.

"As cryptocurrencies become more popular, it's important that my fans have choices when it comes to how they buy my songs and merchandise. Given Monero is one of the safest, most secure and most private cryptocurrencies, it's one of the best options for my fans this holiday season — and just in time for my new album," rapper G-Eazy said in a statement.

The news represents a decidedly mainstream moment for Monero, which was one of 2016's top-performing cryptocurrencies. And while some in the law enforcement world have cited Monero's privacy-enhancing features as a concern, the Cryptocurrency's public market has continued attracting interest.
